Gregg Edwards served as a damages expert for the Plaintiff in Rodd v. Intuit Canada ULC, a proposed consumer class action against Intuit Canada ULC and its U.S. parent, Intuit Inc., involving allegations that Intuit misleadingly advertised its TurboTax online tax preparation software as “free.” Mr. Edwards was retained by Rochon Genova, Plaintiffs’ counsel, to provide expert evidence addressing methodologies for determining damages on a class-wide basis.
On July 24, 2026, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice certified the action as a class proceeding, including common issues relating to liability and aggregate damages. In its certification decision, the Court found that Mr. Edwards had advanced a workable methodology for assessing damages using data expected to be maintained by Intuit, without requiring proof of damages by individual class members.
